For now, Workspace 3 is on the drawing board; in the design stage. We’re getting as much feedback as possible prior to launching to be sure we make our patrons as happy as possible from Day 1.
Please tell us what you want! After you read the description of our plans, below, you can either:
1) Leave a comment, and/or

What is WorkSpace3?
WorkSpace 3 is a quiet, comfortable office environment in a convenient location. It takes all the essentials — private workspaces, conference rooms, phones, WiFi, and color printers – and puts them in an environment that’s more professional than home, and more comfortable than the office.
Why Workspace 3?
The good news for most people is that work has become more flexible. With a laptop, PDA, and mobile phone, you can accomplish your work pretty much anyplace. For most people, the two main workplaces are:
1) The office (workspace 1)
2) The home (workspace 2)
For lots of people, these two places are not enough. Enter Workspace 3.
Who is Workspace 3 for?
Here are a few profiles of Workspace 3 users:
1. The Driver.
The Driver is all over the place. He lives in Maple Grove, and works at a printing company based in downtown Minneapolis. His three biggest customers are in Eagan, Bloomington, and Eden Prairie. He uses the Workspace 3 in Eden Prairie as a ‘basecamp’ to wrap up after his Eagan meetings, and prepare for stops in Bloomington and Eden Prairie – without having to go back downtown, or pass the time in a noisy coffee shop.
2. The Teleworker.
The Teleworker lives in Apple Valley and works for a company based in Fridley. One day a week, the Teleworker uses Workspace 3 to meet with vendors (hard to do from home), make phone calls, do e-mail, and even meet with other Teleworkers in her area.
3. The Independent.
After building a formidable client base out of his home office, this sales rep for a Chicago software company needed a meeting and workspace that was more quiet and professional than a coffee shop. He spent a year renting space in an ‘executive suite’ office complex, but found himself feeling ever-more isolated in its sterile confines.
4. The Creative.
The Creative is a designer who needs a professional workplace outside the home. She feeds off the energy of a ‘semi-public’ place, but needs more space and resources than her local coffee shop can offer.
Where is Workspace 3?
Workspace 3 locations are strategically placed as ‘satellites’ around the Twin Cities. The first location will open later this year, with more locations planned for 2008. Workspace 3 offices are located in retail strip malls, with plenty of front-door parking (unlike traditional office spaces). You might see a Workspace 3 next door to a Caribou Coffee or a Jimmy John’s Sandwich shop.
How much does it cost?
Workspace 3 has a flexible pricing model designed to meet each occupant’s exact needs. Monthly pricing packages are based on how many hours and how much space you need. Monthly packages will start around $115 per month for 12 hours of access, up to around $320 for full-time, 40 hours per week. Final pricing will depend on demand.
What does it include?
Each package includes access to your choice of office type — private, semi-private, or conference room — 12 hours a day, from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, plus:
- High speed WiFi internet access
- Printers and photocopiers
- Fax machine
- Desk phones
- Charging stations for cell phones, laptops, PDAs
- Access to PC workstations with MS Office
Pay-per-use services include:
- Phone-based computer hardware & software support
- Color copies
- Extensive conference room time
- More (tell us what you want)

Just so you know, there is a coworking location starting in Lowertown (Saint Paul): we’re going to be opening at the beginning of September, with open houses in August.
Check out A Place at Liberty Square for more information.
